What is the first thing that comes to mind when we talk about Toucans? It’s beak, of course. In addition to being big and long, it is super colorful, featuring an incredible variety of colors. And, surprising as it may seem, these colors are a camouflage for the toucans.

This animal likes to live in a group and its diet consists basically of fruits. However, they also eat small prey, such as young birds and some insects.

As a bird, you must think that it must fly high up in the sky, but it is not true. Despite being able to fly, the toucan cannot stay in the air for a long time because its wings are short and this means that its not capable of going far from his home, so it uses jumps to move around in the trees. Something the toucan does without any effort, due to its curved fingers and sharp claws.

They build their nests between spring and summer on tree trunks and other holes that already exist in nature. The eggs, which are between two and four, are incubated for 15 and 18 days and during this period a couple of toucans take turns to organize the nest, hatch the eggs and take care of the chicks.

What is the first sound you hear in the morning? In addition to the alarm clock, of course. Birds, right? Among them, you will not hear the toucan. This one usually becomes more active in the late afternoon, when it starts his call. They are noisy birds that love to talk to each other using sounds similar to those of frogs. They have a very loud call that can be heard over great distances. So if one day you are walking around Brazil and you hear a sound similar to that of frogs in the late afternoon, in fact you may be listening to some toucans talking.
