Gay-owned Acai stores in LA celebrate Pride Month by launching a special bowl

Rainbowl is the novelty that RioZonas, which has three stores in LA, presents to reinforce its position in favor of diversity

Famous throughout the city of Los Angeles, where it has three stores, one of which is considered the largest in the açaí branch in the USA (3,000 square feet), RioZonas Açai has just launched a special item on its menu. That is the Rainbowl, an especially tasty and colorful recipe for a campaign alluding to the month of June, in which diversity and LGBT pride are celebrated.

The new item also marks the official opening of the new RioZonas store, located in West Hollywood.

The decision came from owners Evaldo Ferreira, Brazilian, and his american partner, Alan Huie. Married, since they founded the business, in 2015, they’ve never hid their positioning in the brand either. “We had two difficult years in which we faced the pandemic. Now, it’s the best time to celebrate”, encourages Ferreira.

And the decision seems to have been the right one. Evaldo revealed that he got in touch with his closest customers and asked for opinions about the new product. The acceptance was so great that they directly participated in choosing the name and the toppings (fruits), which allude to the colors of the rainbow, “a symbol of gay pride all over the world,” says the Brazilian, who’s been living in the US since the mid 1990’s.

Eyeing the Pride Parade

The expectation with the new item on the menu is that it will be a success during the Pride Parade, which will be held between June 10th and 12th.
“Our new store is in the heart of WeHo, a neighborhood that is the biggest reference for the LGBTQI+ community in Los Angeles. We know that many people will come to visit the city for the meeting”, praises Ferreira.


Rainbowl

The Rainbowl, which starts at $10.5 for the small size, is served with strawberries, papaya, banana, kiwi, and blueberries. Other toppings can be added as well. As a special promo for Pride Month, it is served with a free topping of either honey, coconut flakes, or condensed milk once they’ve checked-in on Yelp.
